News: NORA extends it services to Open Access journals

  

On March 2nd, NORA started harvesting metadata from Norwegian Open Access journals. NORA intends to harvest all OAI-PMH compliant scientific Open Access journals based in Norway.

A special site for Open Access has recently been opened in Iceland by the National and University Library of Iceland. At present it is only in Icelandic, but an English version is being planned.

News: The Swedish Research Council requires free access to research results

  

To obtain a research grant, the Swedish Research Council now requires researchers to publish their material so as to make it available to all. The public and other researchers should have free access to all material financed by public means.

As part of the LIBER 38th Annual General Conference, held at the University of Toulouse 1 in France, the Directory of Open Access Journals has been presented with the 2009 SPARC Europe Award for Outstanding Achievements in Scholarly Communications.

1st Conference for Open Access Scholarly Publishers, 14-16 Sept 2009

Long-term preservation of Open Access Journals secured
The Directory of Open Access Journal (DOAJ) - Lund University Libraries and the e-Depot of the National Library of the Netherlands (KB) today announced the start of a cooperation in order to secure long-term preservation of open access journals. The Swedish Library Association is generously acting as sponsor.

Lund, Sweden – As of today the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ, http://www.doaj.org contains 4000 open access journals, i.e. quality controlled scientific and scholarly electronic journals that are freely available on the web.
